Welcome
Hi there! I’m happy to see you here. My name is Katarzyna, but most people call me Kat! My two biggest passions in life are cooking and gardening. When share it with others makes it even more meaningful to me. From very early age I liked to experiment with food and more than anything had pleasure in eating. In this space I will be sharing with you uncomplicated, simple and most importantly delicious meal that everyone will enjoy. Anything from healthy, plant based, vegetarian, vegan and pescatarians recipes, as well as sweat treats. I believe anyone can create tasty yet nutritious meal with just a few ingredients. In this blog you will also find my experience of growing organically your own food to live a balanced, happy, healthy and sustainable life. My hope is to inspire others with my love for real food and spark a desire to start growing something green.
How it all started
I was born and raised in Poland, at age twenty I moved to the UK and spend unforgettable ten years of my life in that special place. Seven years ago I took the leap, deeply needing a change, as well as having a strong desire to get to know another culture. So I decided to change the course of my life again and bravely move to France despite not speaking a word of this very complicated language.
And this is where it all began…
My journey with gardening. The process of growing my own food has been a pretty amazing experience. I finally felt I turned my light on, letting my soul sing. It’s something I dedicate all my heart and energy into, and it became a way of living, caring daily and appreciating what our nature has to offer. I get excited by the idea of being able to pick your food straight from the plant from your own backyard.
Just to mention I am no expert in this field. Everything I have learned and still learning to this day is by trial and error, I do it as I go. It resultes in many successes and failures. It’s a lifetime journey. I am person who’s simply having fun experimenting in the kitchen, likes digging in the soil, watching those magnificent plants coming to life from a tiny seed, into food forest. And the joy to create a meal from your own produce can be so rewarding.
Each year I get so excited for the upcoming season. I tend to over plant and always ending up having too much to consume. But there is plenty to share with family and friends. And of course I don’t mind leaving some of my crops to birds, slugs, wasps and other insects. That’s the whole beauty of organic gardening. Everyone benefits.
Also I am cat lover (mum of four) and insanely obsessed with figs. Own twenty different varieties, continuously adding new ones to my collection. One of my biggest dream is to create a fruit tree orchard with all sorts of beautiful fruits possibly existing.
